Event : World ORS Day - 2019
Department of Paediatrics, Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hospital celebrated “World ORS Day” on 29 July 2019.
Following activities were conducted.

1. Informational & educational skit performed by final year Nursing Students in Pediatric OPD & Pediatric Ward to spread awareness among the patients and mothers on the uses of ORS and how it is made.
2. Seminar on history, pathophysiology and uses of ORS was conducted by faculty members & PG residents in dept. demo room. PG Students, Intern’s, Physiotherapy Students & Medical Students attended the seminar. Their query were clarified.
3. On this occasion for ORS day, poster competition was conducted. Total 15 poster was received. Judges were invited Dr. Chaudhari Shilpa (Professor, OBGY) & Dr. Shubhangi Adling (Associate Professor, PSM) 2 winners were selected. 1st Dr. Supriya Gulajkar & 2nd Dr. Kirti Salunkhe. Cash prize was given. Prizes distribution ceremony was conducted on 14th Aug. 2019

Department of Paediatrics, Smt Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hospital celebrated “World ORS Day” on 29th July 2020. Social distancing was maintained considering Covid -19 Pandemic.
Theme: - “ORS: The Health Drink in Diarrhoea”

1. Information talk on ORS was conducted in pediatrics OPD & Pediatrics Ward to spread awareness among the patients mothers & parents on the uses of ORS. Demonstration of ORS preparation was done.
2. Seminar on ORS history, pathophysiology of diarrhea, types of ORS & uses of ORS was conducted by the faculty members & PG resident for PG students, in the department of Pediatrics on 29th July 2020 which was followed by snacks & Tea.

Event : Breast Feeding Week
Department of Paediatrics, Smt Kashibai Navale Medical College and General Hospital successfully carried out “World Breast feeding Week” from 1st August to 7th August 2020. The theme for this year was, “Breast Feeding: Foundation of Life”. Social distancing was maintained considering Covid -19 Pandemic.
Following activities were conducted during this period.
1. Informational and educational Posters on the topic were displayed for patients and relatives at various places in the hospital complex so as to increase the awareness about importance of breastfeeding as well as sensitize the hospital staff and caretakers of patients/ANC patients/mothers attending immunization OPD.
2. Lecture on “Common issues in Breast Feeding ” were conducted for the mothers of the antenatal, post natal and pediatrics wards from 01/08/2020 to 07/08/2020 daily. A PowerPoint presentation & video on the topic was also shown to the mothers. Around 15 – 20 mothers daily with their children attended this program. (Pics)
3. A lecture on “Breast Feeding Myths &Problems” was conducted by the faculty member and resident for the all staff members in the Pediatric Department on 06/08/2020. All queries were answered by pediatric faculty members. Lecture was followed by Snacks & tea.
4. A Wise mother competition was conducted in the post natal ward & antenatal OPD over the week. A questionnaire in Marathi was given to the mothers to assess their knowledge and attitude towards breast feeding. Prizes were given to winners.
5. A video show and lecture for paramedic staff of the hospital like Lab. Technician, Physiotherapist, Nurses and office staff was arranged in dept. of pediatrics Practical problems regarding breast feeding were discussed by the nursing staff with the senior faculty from Department of Pediatrics. Video on technique of breast feeding and common problem associated was shown. This was followed by refreshment.

Social distancing was maintained considering Covid -19 Pandemic.
Following activities were conducted during this period.
1. Informational poster on the topic were displayed for patients and relatives at various places in the hospital complex and Informational talk was delivered by faculty of dept of pediatrics so as to increase the awareness about importance of breastfeeding as well as sensitize the hospital staff and caretakers of patients/ANC patients/mothers attending immunization OPD.
2. A Wise mother competition was conducted in the postnatal ward. A questionnaire in Marathi was given to the mothers to assess their knowledge and attitude towards breast feeding. Prizes were given to winners.
3. A Wise doctor competition was conducted for undergraduate students (6th semester & 8th semester) in the lecture halls by dept of pediatrics. A set of multiple question answers was given to the students to assess their correct knowledge about breastfeeding. Prizes were given to winners.
4. A Seminar on Breastfeeding was presented by faculty and Postgraduate residents in Department of Pediatrics. This seminar included pathophysiology, correct positions, issues of breastfeeding, breastfeeding in special situations and human milk banking. This was followed by tea and refreshment.
5. A Skit was arranged by dept of pediatrics for mothers, parents and visitors in hospitals. It was performed in Pediatric Opd, Obgy Opd and PNC ward by interns, undergraduate and postgraduate students. Correct message about ideal breastfeeding practices, Exclusive breastfeeding and breastfeeding in covid pandemics given through skit. Respected Dean and all faculties were present for the same.
6. A Breastfeeding poster competition was conducted for all students, teaching and non-teaching staffs by dept of pediatrics. Posters were judged by senior faculties of Dr. Shilpa Chaudhari Professor of OBJY & Dr. Khalid Khatib Professor of Medicine departments. Prizes were given to winners. This was followed by tea and refreshment.

Event : IAP UG Quiz College Round - 2021
IAP UG Quiz College Round was conducted on 31st August 2021 in Smt. Kashibai Navale Medical College, Pune. Total 5 teams from final Year UG Students participated.
Aditya Thete & Rujula Upadhye won College round of IAP UG Quiz – 2021 & got selected for divisional round.
They are felicitated by the HOD & Professors of Department of Pediatrics on 31st August 2021.

Event : IAP UG Quiz Divisional Round - 2021
IAP UG Quiz Divisional Round was conducted on 20th Sept 2021 in AFMC Medical College, Pune. Total 8 medical colleges in Pune division participated.
1st Prize won by B. J. Medical College & 2nd prize by AFMC Medical College after a tie breaking round. Aditya Thete & Rujula Upadhye (Final Years UG Students) of our college won 3rd prize in IAP UG Quiz – 2021.
They are felicitated by the IAP, Pune President & HOD & Professor of AFMC, Pune on 20th Sept 2021.
