Department of Clinical Research & Development

SKNMC & GH being a charitable hospital serving underprivileged populations is constantly striving for progressive excellence in clinical care and treatment of its patients. Hospital guidelines and policies are regularly updated to keep with the most current recommendations. Clinical and health research are important tools that can help in this effort for excellence and guide the development of the most optimum care and treatment standards. At SKNMC the remarkable value of research as part of both undergraduate and postgraduate curriculum is well understood and greatly supported by its management. To promote research activities Dept. of Clinical Research & Development has been established in Feb 2011.The vision was to bring SKNMC to the level of participation in both national and international research projects.

At SKNMC&GH a wide expertise in field of basic medical science for undertaking mechanistic research and in infectious and non-communicable disease for clinical research is available which helps the faculty /UG/PG students to undertake research projects.

In November 2013, the research center of SKNMC-GH was included in the list of Indian Institutes recognized for conducting research by the Department of Scientific and Industrial Research (DSIR), New Delhi In 2013 CENTRAL RESEARCH LABORATORY was established with the aim for equipping the faculty/ UG/PG students with necessary skills, knowledge and attitude for conducting research with the use of advanced investigations and research tools. In 2016 the department of Clinical Research & Development was merged with CENTRAL RESEARCH LABORATORY. At present the department is having state of art research facility.

Autonomic Research and Advanced Biochemical investigations are few highlights of CRL. CRL is promoting faculty to strive for getting funding from external agencies, and with faculty’s efforts various departments of SKNMC have received ICMR, DST and Intramural funded research projects. CRL is also promoting academic exchanges on a global basis and providing support to SKNMC students for the same. The CRL is also providing the help to the faculty members in publishing the scientific work.

One of the notable features of SKNMC-GH is the enormous number of patients who attend its various clinics and the sizeable admissions of indoor patients. This provides a wide spectrum of areas for students and faculty to focus their research. There are 26 academic departments at SKNMC each with a team of Professors, Associate Professors, Assistant Professors, Tutors and PG students. Faculty from every department at SKNMC is engaged in research of their own passion. It is expected that the Hospital policies for prevention, care and treatment will be guided by research that is specific to our setting and will benefit both patients at SKNMC and elsewhere in India. Undergraduate MBBS Students organize and participate in MediACE that is an annual national Conference for undergraduate students.
