The Medical Education Unit of SKNMC was established in the year 2008, which is approved by MCI for training faculty members in Medical Education Technologies. Its main objective is to sensitize medical teachers to the contemporary developments in the medical education technology to facilitate the teaching-learning process. The unit started with the initial efforts of conducting regular faculty development programs (FDPs) for the teaching faculty of the institute. It gained its momentum and strength since 2013 with the conduction of first MCI recognized Basic MET Workshop at SKNMC & GH. Since then, the MEU of the institute has been conducting various faculty development workshops on regular basis. It also functions as a support unit to promote research in medical education. Research methodology workshops are organized regularly for the faculty & for newly admitted PG students to improve the quality of research in the institute. The unit has approval of MCI (now NMC) New Delhi to continue training of faculty members on newer and updated teaching methods.
Medical Education Unit (MEU) is located on the fourth floor of SKNMC college building. We have all the resources and logistics to conduct various faculty development workshops. MEU provides oversight on the educational activities of the college and co-ordinates overall educational & research development of the institute. It ensures continuous quality improvement in Medical Education & faculty development by conducting faculty development programs & workshops.
The new Competency Based Medical Curriculum has brought a paradigm shift in the medical education. MEU has a tremendous responsibility of transforming both students and faculty for embracing this change. Medical Education Unit along with the Curriculum Committee helps to implement the new UG curriculum including the AETCOM (Attitude, Ethics &Communication) program. MEU also communicates with the Regional / Nodal Centers & NMC regarding implementation of CBME curriculum.
MEU strives hard to help achieve the following objectives:
1. To train teachers as efficient and effective educators.
2. To plan & implement curriculum (UG & PG) as per latest NMC guidelines.
3. To extend the platform for curriculum innovations and ensure curriculum development through the curriculum committee.
4. To constantly update and improve teaching – learning methodology for students and teachers.
5. To train the staff and students for effective research.
6. To encourage faculty to undergo advanced courses in medical education.
7. To ensure continuous quality improvement in Medical education.
