MEDICAL EDUCATION UNIT [MEU] ACTIVITIES:

MEU conducts various workshops for the faculty as well as PG students from time to time.

1. Basic Workshop in MET/Revised Basic MET & AETCOM workshop:- There have been burgeoning developments and changes in the medical education. For instance, the role of teacher has changed from information giver to facilitator, mentor & creator. The information & communication technology has revolutionized the teaching & learning process. It is, therefore, essential for teachers not only to be aware of these new developments but also suitably adopt & apply them in their teaching. Equipping medical college teachers to take on these roles through training, therefore, assumes importance. Hence, MET workshops (MCI/NMC recognized) are being conducted on regular basis to train the faculty regarding various aspects of teaching-learning, assessment & evaluation, feedback as well as Attitude, Ethics & Communication (AETCOM). Faculty are also encouraged to undergo Advanced training in MET e.g., ACME, FAIMER etc.

2. Basic workshops in Research Methodology:- To fulfil the role of an Indian Medical Graduate (IMG) as a researcher, the institute along with the Dept of Community Medicine has conducted several MUHS recognized Research Methodology workshops for the postgraduate students to introduce them to the basics of research. Such workshops are also being conducted for the faculty.

3. Curriculum Implementation & Support Workshops (CISP):-With the introduction of new CBME curriculum from the year 2019, it became mandatory as per NMC norms to train the faculty regarding various aspects of the curriculum like, Early clinical exposure, Self-directed learning, Alignment & integration, AETCOM modules, skills training & assessment, electives etc. MEU & Curriculum committee of SKNMC has conducted two such CISP workshops where majority of the faculty from all 3 phases were trained. MEU also communicates with the Regional / Nodal Centers & NMC regarding implementation of CBME curriculum.

4. Health Sciences Education Technology (HSET) Workshop:-Two MUHS recognised HSET workshops have been conducted by MEU so far to train the faculty predominantly residents & tutors in ‘Basics of medical education technologies’.
