The department of Nursing plays a very important role in patient care. Nurses not only administer the medicines to patients, they constantly monitor the patient's condition and are the first and closest attendant to the patient and the relatives.
The nurses have to perform the noble task of Patient Care round the clock. The hospital is functioning with the bed occupancy of 85-90 % causing a tremendous work load and responsibility on the Nursing staff. We have 698 nursing staff as per guidelines of MCI and we ensure that at any given point of time there is no deficiency of nursing staff by frequent fresh recruitment in case of shortage.
We celebrate the International Nurses Day every year in the month of May. This year instead of spending on actual celebrations like singing and dancing, we thought of an innovative way of celebrating it. The funds collected for the celebrations were donated for various causes like giving them for needy hospital staff for treatment and sending money to Kashmir flood victims.
Almost all the nurses have been imparted with on job training in DOTS and RNTCP at our hospital in collaboration with District Tuberculosis officers and in HIV and AIDS at Bel Air college of Nursing at Panchgani sponsored by Bill and Melinda Gates foundation.
