Department - Radio-diagnosis

The radiology department is equipped with GE Revolution ACTS EX 16 slice CT machine in the year 2016 on the ground floor of new hospital building complex. Apart from routine CT imaging of head, neck, spine, body and extremities, this machine is capable of body and extremity angiographies, High resolution computed tomography (HRCT) and various 3D reconstructions.

The radiology department also has a GE Signa Creator E 1.5 Tesla MRI machine with Optix RF Channels and Express Coils. This machine in addition to routine MR imaging, enables color mapping of the functional areas of the brain, tactography, perfusion imaging and angiography etc and is of immense help in the evaluation of wide spectrum of disorders.

The interventional radiology section is equipped with high end state of the art Siemens Artiz Zee Pure Digital Subtraction Angiography (DSA) machine. This machine has floor mounted C arm gantry with parking position, free table access, pressure injector and dual focus X ray tube with DSA, 3D DYNA CT, Rotational angiography and road map facilities. It has been tremendous help in patient management enabling various vascular and non-vascular therapeutic interventions by minimal invasive methods under image guidance.

The radiology X-ray section is equipped with six static X-ray equipments, including two units with image intensifiers, nine mobile X-ray units and one mammography unit. Four detector plates acquired for static X-ray units have enhanced the conventional radiology section by fast digital system of X-ray acquisition with excellent spatial resolution and superior image quality. It has replaced the use of cassette and significantly reduced the time taken for image processing with immediate image viewing access available to the radiologists and clinicians alike. The Computed Radiography (CR) system is available with the mobile X-ray units.

The radiology department is also providing Ultrasound and Doppler facilities to wide number of patients. The Acuson S2000 ultrasound machine has Elastography which is used to image tissue elasticity and provides significant clinical benefit in breast, thyroid and liver imaging. Fetal Medicine unit in the department provide genetic counseling, prenatal services and early diagnosis of fetal anomalies with specialized services like fetal echo and targeted fetal imaging.

The facilities of X-ray, ultra sonography and color Doppler, CT and MRI are available round the clock to the patients. Picture Archival and Communication System (PACS) is available in all hospital computers providing immediate access to the images of all modalities to the clinicians at their locations, facilitating better patient management.

The radiology museum is being updated regularly and continues to have many visitors. Three PG students in the third batch of MD Radiology residency program have successfully cleared the post graduate examination held by Maharashtra university of Health sciences, Nashik in 2018.

Result of MD (Radiology) examination held in 2018 was 100%
