The department of pathology has following state of the art Laboratories /Facilities:
1) Histopathology
2) Cytopathology
3) Hematology
4) Clinical pathology
In addition, advanced diagnostic tests like immunohistochemistry and frozen section that are definitive in diagnosing malignancies are also available.
The hematology and clinical pathology laboratories provide round the clock services for inpatient and outpatient departments.
Currently the faculty is involved in teaching undergraduate students of various streams; MBBS, Nursing and Physiotherapy. MCI recognized postgraduate courses; MD and DCP are also run by the department.
The departmental museum is updated with more than 600 specimens.
The various teaching learning methods used for postgraduate students include slide seminars, journal clubs, specimen grossing, clinical case discussion, subject seminars and group discussions.
In addition to routine teaching, integrated teaching programs, clinicopathological correlation and guest lectures are arranged by the department in association with other departments.
The department has conducted an International CME in Oncopathology in February 2018 which was a grand success.
Various research projects are going on in the department with active participation from UG and PG students as well as faculty members, and have resulted in several national and international publications in the year 2018.
The department also participates in External Quality Assurance Programs for hematology and histopathology.
Immunohistochemistry is a recent technology in pathological diagnostics. The department has an excellent Immunohistochemistry set-up that is used for daily reporting as well as research.
