Anatomy forms the stepping stone of medical field. The structural organization of Human body has always been a topic of curiosity, and to reveal the mystery, attempts have been made right from ancient periods. The science of Anatomy studies the structure of Human body by disciplined dissection, by observing the microscopic details of the organs i.e. Histology and understands the development of humans from a two cell stage embryo to a fully grown up adult i.e. Embryology. Along with these traditional means of studies, modern techniques like Digital radiography, Ultrasonography, CT scan, and M.R.I. contributed to the better understanding of the subject. In our college the Department of Anatomy is fully equipped with traditional as well as modern resources of teaching. The department which is located on 4th floor of college building, provides ample place for the students to learn various aspects of Anatomy under the guidance of eminent faculty.

Study of gross structure of the human body is done in a spacious dissection hall which also displays human skeletons & different charts to facilitate teaching & learning.

A well-equipped histology lab along with the microscopes enables the students to study microscopic structure of various organs and tissues. Various charts showing microscopic structure of various organs, and tissue helps the students to appreciate the same. Diagrams related to topic are displayed on notice board.

Our Department’s museum is the center of attraction for the students as well as the visitors. There are well mounted gross anatomy speciemen, radiographs, bones, embryology specimen and models.

We have more than 250 well dissected & preserved specimens from different parts of body, along with different charts. Ten copies of specimen catalogue are available which are effectively used by the students for self study.

Well labeled photocopies of radiographs with xrays are displayed, which enable students to study on their own. Bones from axial and appendicular skeleton are displayed along with individual skull bones, fetal skull. Bones are coloured whereever needed for better understanding.

In the middle of the museum, there is a display of human embryos ranging in age from 8 weeks to full term showing normal stages of development. Fetal organs, fetal skeletons and abnormal fetuses are also displayed. The embryology models prepared in the department by the modeler help students to understand step-wise development of the embryo. Well labelled catalogues of models are also available for references.

Classrooms are well equipped with traditional chalk and boards as well as latest audio - visual aids for effective teaching of M.B.B.S., Physiotherapy & Nursing students.

Small group teaching, regular part completion examinations, special guidance for under achievers & personal attention to each student’s performance helps them to cope up with the vast syllabus in limited time during 1st M.B.B.S. in this department. Using latest technology, various innovative teaching learning materials are made available to each student like use of e- mail by the department to share questions like M.C.Q.s, theory questions, photos of Xrays, histology slides, embryology models. This makes them study material available which can be used at their convenience.
